About the Position:

The Events Top will play a key role in sustaining and expanding BAWS’ community programs by leading event production and supporting outreach efforts. This position involves planning and executing events, coordinating logistics, managing volunteers, maintaining event materials, and collaborating with BAWS Co-Directors to ensure events align with organizational goals and values. This position is for current and former sex workers only. 

We will accept applications until the role is filled, and interviews begin on Wednesday, May 6th. Please consider this timeline when submitting your application, as we aim to fill the role as soon as possible.

  • 5-15 remote hrs per week + two meetings per month (occasionally in person)

  • At least one in-person event per quarter

  • 6-month minimum commitment

  • Required availability: Sunday 5/31, Saturday 9/19, Friday 12/4 - Saturday 12/5


Compensation and Benefits:

  • $100 staff development stipend after 3 months (workshops, wellness, trainings)

  • $25/hr stipend for those that qualify (BIPOC, disabled, transgender, and/or has a dependent/s)

  • W9 contract position, paid monthly

  • $100 Tryst credit

  • Meals and transportation covered during in-person meetings


Responsibilities:

Event Production – Plan and execute events, including venue and vendor coordination, basic logistics, setup and breakdown, and creating a welcoming and accessible event environment.

Community Outreach – Represent BAWS at community events and partner spaces through outreach tables. Engage community members in conversation about BAWS programming, resources, and ways to get involved.

Volunteer Coordination – Recruit, coordinate, and tra volunteers assisting with outreach tables to ensure they feel prepared and supported.

Inventory Management – Maintain and organize supplies, track inventory, and ensure materials are stocked and ready for events.

Resource Partnerships – Support connections with community partners to source and distribute resources such as period supplies and harm reduction materials.

Cash Handling – Manage on-site financial transactions including donations, ticket sales, and merchandise, and support accurate tracking and post-event reconciliation.

Community Engagement – Comfortable initiating conversations and building connections with a wide range of community members.

Communication – Able to clearly and confidently share information about BAWS programs, mission, and impact.

Organization & Logistics – Skilled at managing supplies, tracking materials, and coordinating outreach across multiple events.

Leadership – Comfortable coordinating and supporting volunteers in a collaborative environment.

Collaboration – Works well with a small, community-based team; open to feedback and creative collaboration.

Tech Proficiency – Comfortable using Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) and basic communication tools to track outreach efforts.

Equity Lens – Commitment to anti-oppressive frameworks and alignment with BAWS’ mission supporting sex workers, BIPOC, queer, trans, and disabled communities.

Confidentiality – Maintains discretion when handling sensitive organizational or community information.

Reliable Internet & Personal Technology – Must have access to reliable internet and a personal device (phone or computer) for remote coordination work.
