Phone calls to 988 are sent to a local crisis center based on the caller’s approximate location rather than area code, allowing anyone to use 988 to be connected with faster, more localized support. This ensures one can receive care when, where, and how they need it most.

From their mission: MH First Oakland, a project of Anti Police-Terror Project, is a cutting-edge new model for non-police response to mental health crisis. The goal of MH First is to respond to mental health crises including, but not limited to: psychiatric emergencies, substance use support, and domestic violence safety planning.

Call 9-1-1 and request the “CATT Team”.
A licensed mental health provider and EMT will come. Police may come. If concerned about police presence, request a Crisis Intervention Trained officer before hanging up.

SF Westside Community Crisis
The Westside Crisis Clinic provides culturally competent crisis and urgent care services to San Francisco adults (18 years or older) on a voluntary, walk-in or call-in basis. The Clinic is designed to stabilize low-income residents in a mental health crisis and refer that person to an appropriate source for follow-up treatment.
