BAWS just participated in a Sex Worker Town Hall with TAJA’s Coalition, TransLatin@ Coalition, TGIJP, SWOP-LA, St. James Infirmary, Transgender District and the ACLU of CA in calling on California Governor, Gavin Newsom, to leave no one behind during the COVID-19 pandemic and to create a COVID-19 Emergency.
We are calling for a state-wide Sex Worker COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund. We call on the state to support the health of individuals working in the sex trades whether by choice, circumstances, or coercion, who are some of the state's most vulnerable residents, and who due to a myriad of systematic barriers have also been left behind in federal and state pandemic relief.
