BAWS is excited to announce that we are looking to bring on two new team members to work alongside our current Leadership (Tops) Team. As a peer-based, grassroots organization, we are committed to building with our SW communities, and we are seeking folks who share this vision.

We are currently hiring for the following roles:

  • Administrative Assistant

Check out the position descriptions below for details on responsibilities and desired skills. You do not need to have all the listed skills to apply—we are happy to train folks who are interested and aligned with our work.

The BAWS Tops Team

BAWS is a living, learning organization committed to sex worker justice and community care. We know that our work is racial justice, harm reduction, trans liberation, anti-poverty work, abolition, and more. Rooted in solidarity, we stand with poor and working-class people, drug users, disabled folks, trans communities, and BIPOC sex workers. We’re looking for  community members who move in alignment with these values to join our leadership team. BAWS ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

About the Position:

The Administrative Assistant will provide essential support to our team, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. This role includes organizing communications, maintaining records, coordinating logistics, and assisting with program administration.

  • 5-6 remote hrs per week + two 1HR meetings per month (occasionally in person)

  • 6-month minimum commitment

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $100 staff development stipend (workshops, wellness, trainings)

  • $25/hr stipend for those that qualify (BIPOC, disabled, transgender, and/or has a dependent/s) (paid monthly)

  • $100 Tryst credit

  • Meals and transportation covered during in-person meetings and events

Responsibilities:

  • Organization and upkeep – Google Drive, password management, organizational spreadsheets

  • Administrative tasks for events and programming – supporting Tops team with communication management, event execution, event liaison, post-event reporting

  • Email Listserv and Ally Newsletter management – monitoring Listserv emails, verifying new Listserv applicants, adding emails to Ally Newsletter, drafting emails for Listserv and Newsletter

  • Financial disbursements – basic invoicing, bookkeeping, processing expense reports

  • Calendar management – scheduling appointments, meetings, arrangements for Tops team

  • Meeting coordination – preparing agendas, taking meeting minutes, distributing meeting materials

  • Data entry – creating, entering, and updating information into databases and spreadsheets

  • Various special projects – assisting project management tasks as needed

Essential Skills and Qualities:

  • Organizational Skills – Ability to keep records, documents, and digital files well-structured and accessible and manage several projects and tasks simultaneously.

  • Communication Skills – Clear written and verbal communication, especially for email listserv management and meeting notes.

  • Tech Proficiency – Comfortable using Google Drive, spreadsheets, password management tools, and basic financial tracking systems.

  • Confidentiality & Discretion – Handling sensitive and private information responsibly, particularly personal SW information, financial data, and organizational access.

  • Adaptability & Initiative – Willingness to take on special projects and adjust to evolving organizational needs.

  • Collaboration & Teamwork – Ability to work with a small team, attend meetings, and support our mutual aid and resource efforts.

  • Experience with Squarespace (a plus) – Ability to assist with basic website maintenance and updates if needed.

  • Reliable Internet & Personal Technology – Must have access to the internet and a personal device (phone, computer) to complete tasks remotely.


COMMUNICATIONS TOP

About the Position:

BAWS is looking for a storyteller who is passionate about amplifying SW narratives and the work we do via the current social media landscape and various online communications platforms. The Communications Top will develop and execute social media strategies and content across multiple platforms and ensure consistent and effective communication with our communities. 

  • 3-5 remote hrs per week + two 1HR meetings per month (occasionally in person)

  • Community Management – handling public inquiries (e.g., social media DMs, emails), design online communications (i.e., newsletter, blog posts, email Listserv) with calls to action and to share resources 

  • Social Media Management and Creation – creating, curating and boosting multimedia content on Instagram and BlueSky, scheduling posts, analyzing performance metrics, and collaborating with team members to execute social media strategies, coverage at special events

  • Organizational Identity Management – ensuring all communication aligns with BAWS’ organizational identity and messaging

  • Communication Strategy Development – analyzing communication needs and creating strategic communication plans

  • Email Listserv and Ally Newsletter management – monitoring Listserv emails, verifying new Listserv applicants, adding emails to Ally Newsletter, drafting emails for Listserv and Newsletter

Essential Skills and Qualities:

  • Social Media and Online Communications Literacy – strong understanding of online communication and social media analysis, including different platforms, trends, and accessibility. Experience in online SW spaces and familiarity with local and national SW organizations.

  • Communication Skills – active communication, concise and accessible copywriting, proofing, and editing. Experience or willing to learn accessible social media strategies (e.g., alternative and image ID text).

  • Visual Design Skills – basic knowledge of social media, digital writing, graphic design principles, graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe, etc) to create visually appealing content, including images, short videos, and live feed.

  • Creativity and innovation – ability to generate fresh and engaging content ideas aligned with BAWS values and mission.

  • Organizational Skills– managing multiple social media accounts and projects simultaneously, online communications, and deadlines.

  • Confidentiality & Discretion – Handling sensitive and private information responsibly, particularly personal SW information and organizational access.

  • Adaptability & Initiative – Willingness to take on special projects and adjust to evolving organizational needs.
